Job Summary:

The Highway Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of roadways, highways, and other related infrastructure projects. This role involves ensuring that all highway engineering projects comply with safety regulations, environmental policies, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Planning:

Develop highway designs using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Conduct feasibility studies and site investigations to determine the most efficient and effective designs.
Collaborate with surveyors, architects, and other engineers to integrate design considerations.
Project Management:

Manage the highway engineering projects from conception to completion.
Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
Coordinate with contractors, clients, and government agencies to ensure project alignment with goals.
Prepare project reports and documentation for stakeholders.
Compliance and Quality Control:

Ensure that all highway designs meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
Oversee quality control procedures during construction to ensure adherence to design specifications.
Environmental and Sustainability Considerations:

Integrate sustainable practices into highway designs to minimize environmental impact.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and policies.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams during the implementation phase.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during construction.
Stakeholder Engagement:

Engage with clients, local authorities, and community stakeholders to address concerns and ensure smooth project execution.
Conduct public presentations and consultations as needed.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
3-5 years of experience in highway engineering or related infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation).
Strong knowledge of highway design standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and coordinate with various stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:

Experience with advanced highway design software and modeling tools.
Familiarity with GIS software for mapping and spatial analysis.
Knowledge of sustainable design practices and green infrastructure.
Working Conditions:

The role may require travel to project sites and meetings with clients or stakeholders.
Ability to work in various weather conditions during site visits.
Flexible working hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
